New Construction of a highschool, secondary school and sports hall in Dresden-Pieschen
After successful participation in an interdisciplinary realization competition of an Europe-wide VOF-procedure for the design of school location Dresden-Pieschen the consortium, consisting of ppp architekten GmbH, ibb Ingenieurbüro Bauwesen GmbH Chemnitz and C&E Consulting und Engineering GmbH, executed the planning contract for the new construction of the large highschool, the large secondary school and three sports halls in Dresden-Pietschen.
The concept of a structured complete ensemble creates balance between the shared areas for all users and the quiet retreat for pupils in their classes. The establishment of a clear hierarchy from the central point with assembly hall, canteen and administration, to the small centers with school buildings like an atrium or market places and up to the private class rooms are the characteristic trait of the draft.
The common ground floor with public or central usage connects the secondary school, high school, assembly hall/canteen and the sports halls as a “built learning environment”. The central usage will be connected to the exterior spaces in multiple ways: assembly hall, stage, open air theatre, crafts rooms, art, textile design, music, pupils café, canteens, terrace and a full day area.
