STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

  • One basic planning task for the load-bearing structure of the building was the creation of a high flexibility for the rentable area of the ground floor and the first floor with a low building cost input. Therefore the dimension of the support grid of the upper office levels was augmented of the double amount with a horizontal underpinning level over the first floor.
  • The 85 x60m grand 7-storey building is constructed jointless, inside the building there are no expansion-joints at all.
  • All compulsive forces resulting from this planning approach were considered with the static calculation and will be taken up by the selected constructions.
  • In addition extensive proofs were conducted, which could be made only through the illustration of the build-ing with a spatial building model with the Finite-Elemente-Method.
  • To In order to be able to consider the obligation general loads from the coupling of the base plate to the flexible building ground and the associated handicap of the shrinkage process realistic and cost-efficient, also the building ground was integrated into this building model. Using sophisticated and high expertise formed idealization of the system, it was possible to design a complex building and to calculate the most inexpensive variation for the project sponsor.
  • The spatial stability is guaranteed over the four outer staircase cores. Apart from the common stabilization loads of the tilting and wind, the staircase cores have to pick up the powerful constraint forces out of contractions and temperature, which are presented as a result of the jointless design. Similarly, the floor diaphragms have incorporated the high horizontal restraint stresses.

The building was established flat by means of a base plate. The upper floor forms a white trough. The existing elevations of the base plate and the resulting constraints were also considered.
