Reconstruction and Restoration of „Jahnbaude“ and New Construction of a Sports Hall with 2 fields at Johannes-Kepler-Gymnasium in Chemnitz
ARCHITECTURE / OBJECT PLANNING OF BUILDING
The project included the reconstruction and energetic restoration of the listed “Jahnbaude” and the new construction of a 2-field sports hall with connection to the existing building. The new building belongs to the Jo-hannes-Kepler-Gymnasium and contains stands, changing rooms, sanitary area, teacher- and club- areas, as well as outdoor sport facilities.
The façade and the supporting structure of the “Jahnbaude” remained mostly intact. The restoration was made considering thermo-technical, fire-protection, sound insulation and monumental protection issues. The new room schedule required demolition work inside the complete build-ing.
The new constructed sports hall has a functional area on the ground floor and a stand in the first floor. It was constructed as joint of steel- and rein-forced concrete. The staircase was expanded with escalator equipped for disabled. An open pergola connects the sports hall with the “Jahnbaude“
