Modification and reconstruction of the listed building ensemble (historical city hall) to a nursing home at Chemnitz
A historical building receives its old gloss back and is at the same time a new center for modern senior care. Rehabilitation of the former city hall cladding, in line with accepted conservation practice, forms a contrast to the new building. A uniform color concept eventually joins the two building parts to a quarter-shaping total ensemble. Visitors, guests and residents enter the building complex by a barrier-free entrance hall. Generosity and functionality with simultaneous individuality of the different care units shape the inside of the buildings. A light-flooded, winter garden-like living space and dining area earns exactly the same special mention as the true to original restored council hall for special ceremonies. The exterior installations integrate themselves smoothly into the directly adjacent Siegmarer Park.
